DRM HOSPITAL - Mochudi

About 40 kilometers north of Gaborone lies Deborah Retief Memorial Hospital (DRM) in the mountaineers capital of Bakgatla Ba Ga Kgafela in Mochudi. As one of the oldest hospital in the country, DRM owes its origins to the Dutch Reform Church of Botswana. The hospital is named after Miss Deborah Retief who tirelessly dedicated her services to Bakgatla opened its doors for the first time on September 1932.

Gaborone, the capital of the country is not far away and there you can find large supermarkets and shopping centres similar to any modern city. It has many forms of entertainment with cinemas, good restaurants (besides diamonds Botswana produces an incredible amount of excellent beef), a golf course and the large reservoir to the Gaborone Sailing Club, Casinos, American hotels and bars.

Based in Mochudi the Dutch Reformed Church in Botswana operates the Deborah Retief Memorial Hospital, Mochudi Home Craft Centre (women skill empowerment vocational training in dressmaking and catering). They also operate the Mochudi Resource Centre for the Disabled (primary school for visually impaired children), Pudulologong Rehabilitation Centre (a vocational skills training to empower totally and partially blind boys and girls to enter industry, and partially blind men and women for economic empowerment), Motswedi Rehabilitation Centre (a disability centre for those of all ages with disability other than visual impairment).
